The Fresh Citrus Industry "Oranges, Mandarins, Grapefruits and
Lemons" is one of the major export products for the Egyptian
Agriculture and Economy with a total 222,302 ha citrus fruit
cultivated area and total production estimated at 2,149,349
ton/year.
The average volume of citrus exported from Egypt to various
countries during 1997-2000 ranged from 205,800 to 210,500 tons of
fresh oranges. Throughout 2010/2011 season quantities Exported
exceeded 983,900 Tons.
The Egyptian climate suitability makes its Oranges famous and
more desired among Northern and Southern Hemisphere regions.
